Uploaded pictures into MyCloud but no preview thumbnail

Hello! I tried my best to search for this answer but there were too many posts!

I have uploaded some iphone 6 pictures using MyCloud App to MyCloud device. When i go back into the MyCloud app and try to look at the pictures, there is no preview thumbnail but just a generic icon? The “files” are there under the “All” view but when i switch to the “photo” view then it doesn’t not appear.

I have successfully uploaded many other phones using my Macbook Air (Iphotos) to the MyCloud network drive and those show up as “photos” and i can see a mini preview. I have at least 2 years of photos successfully uploaded.

I can’t figure out why this “2nd batch” is different? I"m trying to free up space on both my MacBook Air and my iphone camera roll. It seems to think i’m uploading a “file” vs a photo (the icon options are All, Photos, Music, Videos). I even tried to save them from my iphone camera roll back to MacBook Air Iphotos and upload them using Macbook and still same result.

Question #2: Can anyone explain the difference between MyCloud app vs WD Photos app? Pros/Cons? I didn’t even know there was WD photos app until i came to this forum.

It sounds like a similar issue I’ve unsuccessfully been questioning.

With me, it seems to depend on my naming structure… under my system (YYYYMMDD filename), pre-1980 photos show the thumbnail, 1980 and recent don’t. If I change to ‘YYYY MM DD filename’ I get different results.

It all seems to be involved with WD’s software…

It appears no one from WD is following this forum… I tried phone support, but I apparently couldn’t describe my problem to them successfully enough for them to hazard a guess as to what is happening.

Today, I started a 3 month free trial of Amazon photos which does not (yet?) seem to give me the same problems. I have about a week left to return my WD drive-- which works perfectly as a drive, but without good, dependable software for me to use the drive as I was planning.

i thought that some files werent backuped at all because you cant see them with the app if you dont toggle between photos/all.

Photos app is an old app, and was updated already two years ago on the last time…
