the home tab on dashboard shows total free capacity across all created volumes. How can we see usage and free space per volume? anyone know ? I can do ssh on the device and get stats via the df command but that does not relate directly to the volume names shown on the UI.
Currently, on the home page you wont be able to see that. However, if you goes to shares on the dashboard, you will be able to see the usage for each one of the shares.
Please note that doing SSH on the drive will void the warranty.

Are you sure about that statement? It is my understanding that only using ssh to modify the NAS voids the warranty.
WD FAQ statement: The use of SSH to tamper with the drive in order to modify or attempt to modify the device outside of the normal operation of the product will void the drive’s warranty.
Just asking for clarification purposes.
Unfortunately, the share tab has NO information about the usage of the volume where that given share is located.
I’m looking for information on how much space is “in use” on the given volume and how much is “free space” available on that given volume where the said share is located.
This information is NOT available even on the share tab.
Please advise.
Bump this one again. Any way to see usage or capacity by volume?
Don’t know if this will help and I’m not sure how you are using the system. I’ve populated all the bays and using the drives in JBOD mode…and mapped each drive to windows/Mac/Linux…I can easy check free space in each volume. In raid mode, I’m guessing you could do the same??? I agree though, that a feature to see free space on each drive would be cool.
I don’t understand why would simply using ssh to look around under the hood void the warranty? My car is still under warranty if I open the hood to change the oil… Sure if mod the engine…that would void the warranty…
Yes, support advised to mount the share as a drive under windows, and then right click that mapped drive in windows explorer to go to properties and there you can see the space statistics.
Showing it somewhere on the UI is the only logical and correct way of showing the available space (and used space).
