I have a My Cloud EX4100 with two brand new 4TB WD Red WD40EFRX drives fitted into in bays 1 & 2 with a RAID 1 configuration. I currently have about 1.5 TB of data stored on the RAID so plenty of space for the future…
My question is, can I somehow utilize the other spare drives I have? I have two 1TB WD Black drives and a 4TB My Cloud.
I currently use the 4TB My Cloud purely as a backup of the EX4100 and the two WD Black drives must be feeling unloved as I do not use them for anything 
How would you use the other drives, if at all?
If it’s useful, I would consider removing the 4TB drive from the My Cloud (it’s out or warranty) and fitting it directly into the 3rd bay of the EX4100.
Is it possible to backup my RAID 1 in bays 1 & 2 to a third drive fitted into bay 3? This would be a more elegant solution than having a separate My Cloud unit sitting on the desk.
Any thoughts?
