Using MyCloud Mirror 2.Gen with only one disk?

Hello,

first of all: I´m not a native English speaker so excuse any errors in spelling, grammar and so forth.

I´m planing on switching to Synology by taking out one of my MyCloud Mirror 2. Gen disks (there are two 2TB disks in the MyCloud). As I paid a lot for the MyCloud Mirror 2. Gen (4TB) and do not wish to have wasted the money by leaving the MyCloud enclosure untouched I hoped to continue using it with just one harddisk. That would at least let me use the MyCloud as second back up (just local) or in any other way.

Is it possible to keep the MyCloud running with just one harddisk? If yes what do I have to do to make sure it keeps working? Right now it runs in JBOD. Do I have to change to RAID or something else? Can I just pick either disk and it still works or do I have to leave the one with the OS behind? How can I find out on which disk the OS is on? I already put 150GB on it (then stopped because of the troubles I had with it). Is there a way to find out on which disk the 150 GB are and leave this disk behind? (If not that´s not to bad, I could upload all of it again as it is still on my pc as well).

I really appreciate any help! I would hate to leave the enclosure untouched in some corner.

Hello,

It should work just fine.
