Guys,
The files deletion takes really long time, notwithstanding over WIFI or LAN. Im trying to delete 200MB folder with 24 jpg files and it takes more than 10-15 minutes!
Copying or moving to drive is pretty fine, I have 40 MB\s over LAN and 6 MBs over WIFI, so no problem there.
I have the latest firmware: 1.04.05
EX2 with 6TBx2 RED inside in RAID 1 mode.
Now only 1 TB occupated.
W7 64bit pro.
It shouldn’t take 10-15 minutes for only 24 jpg files. File deletion really deletes them from the drive’s directory tables…doesn’t actually delete the data. So it shouldn’t take that long. My only thought is there’s got to be way more than just 24 files if delete takes that long over a wired connection…but if not, then something is very wrong. Sorry - don’t know what it could be though.
Hmm… I found that big folders >5Gb deletion takes the same time. I see that deletion is fast, but the estimation process is long. Most time system spends showing “estimating time” and then momentary deletes it…
EDIT: removing post as somehow my post got duplicated…see my post below.
Estimation process being long but actual delete being fast seems to indicate that either the connection to EX2 is slow (will happen on wifi…I have seen that happen when I haven’t connected to the EX2 using my laptop’s wifi for a while…but should not happen on wired)…or the hard disks are going into power-saving mode by spinning down and thus it takes a while to spin up if you’ve set power saving to ON in the EX2 dashboard (seen it happen on mine too…but it seems sluggish for the first 3-5 minutes…never takes 10-15 mins though).
Reboot system. 1 day nice flight. Seems it was a glitch.
In any case, thanks for your advices.
