Video files freeze 2 minutes prior to the ending

This is a problem that I’m having with the WD Live Media Player that’s using firmware 1.11.14

When using subtitles, the video file (I use mp4 files) freezes and sometimes moves very slowly (a frame every 15 seconds) when it reaches a point 2 minutes from the end (the 40 minute point of a 42 minute file). When I stop the file and then restart it from the beginning, without subtitles (SRT format) the file plays through to the end. I basically need to stop the video, start it again from the beginning, turn off subtitles, and using the Search mode go to the point where the file froze.

I didn’t have this problem until I updated to the 1.11.14 firmware.

Is anyone else experiencing a similar problem?

This happens with virtually all mp4 files when I have subtitles turned on. If I turn te subtitles off, the file plays through to the end. If it was one or two files, then I would suspect the files. If it happens with virtually all mp4 files (from many different sources) when the subtitles are displayed, then I believe it’s the WD Live Media Player.

i have the same problem with it. i also use the subtitles option. i will try to again but without the subtitles. i had it a few times on the hub also. but thanks for any info!

I have noticed similar behaviour with the latest firmware. In fact I came here to find instructions how to downgrade to an older firmware to see if the firmware is the problem.

I did not realize the connection with subtitles (but they are there when this happens), or the exact time when this happens but it is always a little before the the end of file.

What is different here this (stopping, slow motion) happens in the very beginning of video too.

I have just waited and in a moment (20-30 sec) the normal playback resumed.

The files are in .mp4 and subtitles .srt.

Good catch, I was experiencing the same thing, and it was the subtitles. toggling them off and on fixed the problem. I typically use MKV so don’t think it’s exclusive to MP4

Actually I was wrong, ti wasn’t MK4’s but indeed MP4 files
