Video lagging and audio missing

I have  a WD TV live and for the most part, it has worked quite well.  I mostly use it to watch movies/shows from my macbook pro.  That said, I have been experiencing serious lag in the video, as if the show is playing in slow motion, and a complete loss of audio.  Sometimes the audio and video will normalize if I leave the show on for a while.  However, it is a nuisance and is causing me to consider returning the WD TV live if I cannot arrive at a solution sometime soon.

Any suggestions?

Having similar issues ive been resetting the thing back to factory defaults.

are you guys using it wirelessly?

try hooking it up via the ethernet cable instead and see how it works.  and test your internet speeds at speedtest.net

not all wireless routers are actually capable of transmitting that much data so quickly.  especially a standard one not designed for streaming video content.

you might consider buying a higher performance router if that’s the case. or leave your unit hooked up via the cable.  all routers should be good enough via the cable route.

Hey guys I’m having the same issue. Mine is via a wireless connection. Xbox360 and apple tv can connect and play files perfectly but on the wdtv live the video is either slow to a halt or does not even load. Can anyone think of a solution?

I had the exact same issues, using wireless it worked fine for a week or so then stuttered with no audio on every file. I tried with ethernet cable and it worked fine although this was not an option for me. I updated my routers firmware, set wireless to ‘N’ only as all my wireless stuff was capable of ‘N’ .Then using an app on my phone I could see that neighbours wireless networks were also on channel 1 (as was mine) and channel 9 so I set mine from auto to channel 6. All is working flawlessly again now. I’m guessing it will be the channel thing that caused the issues but as I done all these things at once I can’t narrow it down, sorry.

P.S. I also downgraded the WDTV firmeware but this made no difference so I re-upgraded that.
