Want to change the file icons to something useable

I am looking for help in customizing icons on the NAS drive that would look the same as it does on my local drive.

The first image showing the file with a question mark on the first file and a star on the second file is what I am trying to achieve.

I see absolutely no way this can be done with the NAS drive unless someone has already figured it out.

Thanks, Mike

That’s a limitation of many NAS systems, not just WD. It requires the NAS’s SMB server to be configured in a very specific way such that file attributes are handled differently.

Okay, so from what I am reading here - it is doable, but only by someone who knows what they are doing.

Would someone care to quote me a price on helping out? I have general knowledge and could probably pull this off based on what was written in your link, but would probably save myself and tech support an incredible amount of time and frustration just hiring a pro to do it in 10 minutes.

Thanks, Mike

How are you looking at your files on your My Cloud? Your image is from your computer. Below is an example image from my computer viewing my My Cloud using File Explorer.

Click on, tap or activate image to enlarge it.

With WD’s, it’s not that simple. Many configuration files are re-created when powered off/on, reconfigured, etc. which means your changes likely won’t stick.

Yes, it was directly from my computer. I want to make it like my “local” looks like. Unfortunately, it does not appear this is going to be possible.

Thank you though

Thank you Tony

Disappointing, but at least it is an answer
