WD 2.07.17, MOJO 1.12.01 (MS) and Thumbgen 1.2.9.0 How To See Results On WDTV

Trying to get the thumbgen output to actually be seen on my WDTV Live Hub and must be missing something.  The thumbgen program finds what I want and appears to display exactly what I wish (in a mojo glass sheet 2 sheet), but I don’t get anything when viewing my server files (WHS V1) from the WD.

What are the exact steps to force the WD to update what the movie folder now contains?  Are these 2 files all that thumbgen should generate for each movie? … example – Earthsea.IFO.tgmd and the box art file Earthsea.jpg?

THANKS !!

Mike

You should be generating, at the least, 4 files with Thumbgen.

yourmovie.jpg (cover art, manually rename to .png)

yourmovie_sheet.jpg (movie sheet)

yourmovie.xml

yourmovie.tgmd (this is not necessary for displaying, but you should generate as it is an internal Thumbgen file that will

make it easier if you have to regenerate sheets and/or cover arts for different themes).

If you have questions, I do have a video tutorial and guide HERE, if you follow it EXACTLY everything should work for you.

Yup, somehow the options got changed in thumbgen.  Thanks for taking the time to write me – and BIG KUDOS for all your programming work too.  Do you have a link for paypal “buy-me-a-coffee” type donations?

Thanks,

Mike

Last stubborn thing in my process of seeing movie data thru my WD seems to be getting the WD to wake up and find the data.  Example - sheets I just created and can see in the WHS (using windows home server V1) directory don’t show up on the WD.  I powered up the WD after making these changes, in hope that it would find and display things, but NOPE.

Do I need to pull the power plug while it is running in order to get content discovery?

Thanks,

Mike

You can “force” a rescan in two ways.

  1. On the original remote, press and hold down the power button for a few seconds. When you restart the hub it should come up with the light flashing and the re-scanning of media message.
  2. The other way is to use the device “restart” menu option from the Setup / System menus. The rest will look like number 1.
