I have formatted my new Black 4tb to gpt, but it still only shows 2tb, and doesn’t even show the remaining space as unallocated. Any suggestions? If I can’t access the entire 4tb I’ll have to return it. I’m using Windows 7 64 bit on an old Dell 690 Workstation, running BIOS 8. Upon further research, it looks like drives above 2tb won’t be recognized unless I’m using UEFI which is not possible on this machine. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think I’m screwed. Any advice would be appreciated.
The Precision T690 and T7500 SATA/SAS controller does not support drives larger than 2TB. You would need to move up to the Precision T7600 or newer if you want large drive support.
The easiest way to add a Dell Perc H700 Raid card into the machine, and use this for connecting your HDDs.
