WD My Cloud 4TB hard drive to EX2 Ultra

Hi, i have a question, can i put and read data from hard drive that has been in My Cloud 4TB to new My Cloud EX2 Ultra?

Thank you.

You would need to destroy the Single-Bay My Cloud to get the drive out of its chassis. You may break the plastics if you open the chassis and you would void the warranty of the Single-Bay My Cloud. It would be possible, this drive will be used in JBOD configuration in EX2 Ultra.

I already destroyed the chassis, because the drive started to act weird and i found out the drive inside is not Western Digital, but some chinese cheap disk. I would like to buy EX2 ultra with WD Red hard drive, but i need to try to copy data from the old drive to a new one. That’s actually my question, if the EX2 can read the drive without formatting because Windows can’t read it at all. The My Cloud reads it fine, but it crashes time to time and My Cloud is so sloooow.

WHAT??? Can you please provide a picture of this drive? Ther must be a WD drive inside! Maybe not a Red but at least any WD.

This is the drive:

Hello,

nice drive you have there haha. You only can copy your files if the drive is inserted into the My Cloud housing again. No way without loosing your data on Windows. Linux could be possible but if i where you i would install it again, copy the data and then kick the mediamax hdd into a trashcan.

Btw you could download CrystalDiskInfo and check there what the actual manufacturer, model number and serial number of the mediamax drive is.
