WD My Cloud Mirror Not Seen on LAN

Originally setup drive to have lots of pictures (1k+), songs (30k+) and other MS office type documents. This was running successfully for over 2 years without issues with
windows 8.1. Then one morning (<2 weeks ago), the power light went solid red, yet both drive 1 and 2 stayed as solid blue. Since then cannot see the drive listed within windows explore or ping/traceroute to either the hostname or ip address staticly assigned. Restoring this device is ESSENTIAL since wedding pictures are on this drive, along with many copies of different desktop/laptop images, etc. After having drive after drive from competitors go bad, I decided to try Western Digital. Out of approx 10 WD drives, 5-6 have gone completely bad now too. I guess its time to move onto another drivemaker since WD is not much different than the others who have crashed.

Please help. Thanks in advance,

David Y.

Hello,

Have you tried resetting the unit? If not, please try that.

See if this helps

Yes I have tried resetting the drive multiple times. After resetting, the drive loads up and both the power and drive 1 and 2 are blinking blue as the drive goes thru the motions. Then once done loading, the power is solid red and drive 1 and 2 are solid blue. Never during loading or once completed is the drive accessible via ping/traceroute or thru Windows Explorer. Is there a way to access the drive and/or data without losing the files (family pictures/movies/songs that were housed on it?

Thanks,

David

For whatever reason, my basic troubleshooting habits escaped me. The network cable that was connected went bad some how. Replaced the cat-5e cable with another one, and poof…the connectivity was back working again. Really not that dumb in real life. Thanks anyway.
