WD My Cloud - moving from PC to Mac advice

Hi,

My computer went away for repair and as it was taking so long I have been given the option of getting a replacement, possibly an iMac.

I have all my data backed up on my drive when I had my PC, both using the WD bundled software and also simply copied into my generic folder. I’m now looking to recover that data from my own folder (not from the backup as I don’t think that would work), can I simply drag this over using a Mac?

I know the device is compatible with Mac but I rather prefer to use in Windows Explorer for PC (via Network) but not sure if the same/equivalent option is available for Mac?

Thanks

It is Finder in mac and that is about my mac limit

you can get the files from either location with finder/file explorer. if you look at the smartware area nothing is done to the files. I am not sure if a smartware restore would work but its not needed

the only issue you should have is files from the PC that you either don’t have an app for or an app is not available for mac

Finder is the Mac equalivent to windows explorer. You mount the share in finder and drag/drop what you want.
