WD Mycloud EX4 - now denying me access to shares - Can't map anything

I was able to access everything and just finished transferring 4 TB’s worth of data to my EX4.  Then I created a few new share names so that I could better organize that data using the GUI.  No sooner had I finished this then the device dropped all of my mapped drives and now tells me “access denied” and I don’t have the credentials to access the shares.  Has anyone seen this before with the EX4?

EX4

Current firmware as of 24 Jan 2014

Win 7 Desktop

DLINK Router

System scan of EX4 good to go

Reboot - completed - no resolution

All Hard Drives are working and in good health (machine and drives are a couple of days old)

***** Further

It tells me to “I do not have permission - please contact my network administrator for access”

Are you able to access the dashboard?

Is this happening only on Windows?

Are you able to see and access the shares from other devices, like a mobile device, if you have one?

I can access the Dashboard.

Dashboard tells me that I have 3TB in use  and breaks down into what types of files.

I can see the shares with my WD Live devices in the house but when I try to access the shares it says “No Media In Folder” - and believe me there is.

I can only access 2 of the 8 or so shares I created.  I am transferring data to those and I can see this media on my WD Live players. ** I just began transferring the data to them to see if it was possible and also to verify that I could in fact see the media on the wd player ** all previos folders with media are not accessable and 3 new shares I created with absolutely nothing in them are not accessable as well.

I used the basic setup for a share in the dashboard - pretty much default settings.

Did you recently change your windows password?

Can you try to map the share to a windows drive in Explorer and select the option to connect as a different user and provide the username/password of a vaild user you have created earlier on the Ex4.

How was the data copied?

if you copied using something other than windows explorer (copy/paste) or windows tools, then sometimes browsing to the share folder will NOT show you any files, even though you do have files under the share.

no I haven’t changed my windows password at all

I selected the option to connect with different credentials - the “admin” won’t work -I did try the earlier user I had that I had already deleted

the data was dragged on dropped from my old nas drives to the EX4 on my win 7 machine. - when all the drives were mapped.  I was watching recorded TV on the EX4 just yesterday, this issue seemed to have come out of nowhere.  Is there a known issue with naming conventions for shares??  here is an example of one of my shares

1.Recorded_TV

old share

Recorded_TV

as soon as I created the share with the “1.” so I could list them as I wanted and they wouldn’t just show Alphabetically this problem started to happen.  The old shares and the new shares that start with a “1., 2., 3.” do not work - the new shares with the number and period prefix don’t even have any data in them but aren’t accessable.
