Is there any way to mount the drive that you connect to the MyCloud Home via the USB port. I can do this with my first generation MyCloud drive but I can’t figure out how to do it with this new drive.
I read somewhere online that the USB port only works to ‘import’ files onto the MyCloud Home and doesn’t allow exporting…which seems like a very strange restriction so I’m not sure I believe it.
I’d just like to see the drive that’s plugged in to the MyCloud so I can see what’s on it and potentially drag and drop to it for transfer and backup.
Do you know why this change was made? It seems to take away a lot of the function of the USB port. Without being able to see that drive, you’re just keeping your fingers crossed that things are working and I’m not super confident based on what I’ve seen so far.
So the only way to see what’s on the drive connected via USB is to disconnect it from the MyCloud Home and mount it to your computer separatly?
I seems like all of these choices made by WD are going to push people away to other products.
@scottdfuller totally agree. I ran into this problem as well. Frustrating ! It does not make sense to allow usb copy but prevent user from checking integrity of the files / folders copied across before unplugging the usb drive. Also it would be nice to have a function to eject / remove the usb media safely before unplugging it from the usb port.
