I have a 2TB MyCloud drive connected to my Verizon FiOs router. I was able to setup the drive with minimal difficulty following the directions provided online. However, once I initially transferred my files to the drive in my personal share whenever I attempt to access my share I get a request for network credentials. I am running Windows 10 on a Toshiba All in One PC. I can access the public shares.
Secondarily, I continue to have “spotty” access to the drive from my desktop and remotely using any of my devices (iPhone, iPad or laptop). I receive an error message that the drive is unavailable or offline. When I check the status the blue light is on and the drive appears to be online. I am using the WD apps and software to access the drive.
I have done a factory reset TWICE and have experience the same problems each time. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated with either of these issues.
This is likely to be the problem. Windows won’t allow mixed credentials for network drives, and is likely to have accessed Public using your PC account, not your MyCloud account. So it won’t let you use the correct credentials for private shares.
If you have mapped Public, unmap it and remap all network drives with ‘connect as other user’, and enter your MyCloud account credentials.
If you haven’t mapped drives, you may have to use the credentials manager to remove the association for public, and then connect to private first, with your MyCloud credentials.
It’s in Windows Control Panel, but just type ‘Credentials’ in the search area if you have Cortana on.
Credentials didn’t solve a similar problem for me: try setting SMB1 in the Network section of the MyCloud Dashboard (Settings).
