WD MyPassports recognised as CD drives on one PC only

Hi all. First of all, how long does it take for WD to respond to support requests? I’ve been waiting for over a week without even so much as an acknowledgement.

My issue is that I have 2x 4TB Western Digital MyPassports which suddenly think they’re CD drives on my PC but, crucially, only on my PC. They’re absolutely fine on my laptop and so I don’t believe this is a drive failure issue.

All the advice that I have found online pertains to a universal problem, i.e. external HDDs getting recognised as CD drives on all computers. That’s not the problem I have.

In disk management, it says that the MyPassports aren’t initialised on my PC, which is not the case on my laptop.

Hi. I tried that (in fact, I already had WD Discovery on my PC), but it doesn’t work because the drive is still being recognised as a CD drive rather than as a hard drive.
