WD Photo is not very good. Am I missing something here?

I bought the Mycloud device and love how it works. However, the mobile app is not good at all. With WD photo it looks like one big mess when I view my photos? There should be some sort of date separator or something. If you use google photos it separates all photos by day of the week and then by date. Am I missing something here or is the app just that bad? Are there any alternatives? A friend of mine has the seagate cloud device and the mobile app has date options on it.

The My Photos app is an older generation app. The current app is called My Cloud app, so download and install it from your app store and see how you like it. It also accesses music and video files as well as photos.

Yeah I have that app too. I guess it separates the photos by date. I still don’t really like it though. Oh well maybe the next release will be better.

BTW, you do not have to only use WD apps to access your My Cloud. I have apps for both my iOS and Android devices that can access the My Cloud at home or away for all media files stored there…

I also upload my iOS devices’ Camera Rolls to My Cloud, then separate them into folders for photos and videos for myself and for my wife’s stuff., although it will not help the date-sorted issue.

I have a virtual cloud service called Pogoplug that has an app for accessing photos and videos uploaded to server from my iThings that arranges them by year, and month. using the PP app. Nice to have two separate and easy backups of the Camera Rolls.

What other apps? I have an Android phone and my wife has an Iphone

Good apps, huh . . . .

Well, we each have iPhones, iPads, and Android tablets (Amazon Kindles) and our own Windows PCs. No Macs allowed in house!
So, these are my favorite apps for them to access media:

For iOS devices, My Cloud app, of course, great for playing videos, OK for photos and quite useful for backing Camera Roll to NAS, quite poor for music selecting.

FileBrowser, a long time favorite for accessing shared devices with media files etc. (not a DLNA access) I can get media from all my source devices and even stream it to a Chromecast, Cost $6 bucks and worth every penny.

Belkin MediaPlay, accesses media servers for DLNA streaming, and other things like beam the media to a Roku for TV viewing,

Infuse, a nice video-only player that can access shares and media servers.

AiCloud is an app for accessing my home network from the maker of my router, Asus. Even if one does not have an Asus router it is still useful to use in home only I have read. Need the router for remote access.

Android apps:

Avia app for accessing media servers and all media types as DLNA formatted stream

Bubble/UPnP a another app like Avia, but with more features. Can also access media as shares, too, which is nice. Both it and Avia handle music extremely well and even can play from playlists (which is what I mostly use them for) , so either is my app of choice for music depending on what special feature I may want from app.

There is also an Android version of AiCloud, too.

An Android app I like and use is not a media app, it is for examining your wireless signal, and others around you to help you tweak your signal for the best channel to be on and other goodies. There is not an iOS version of this app; Apple doesn’t allow apps like this. Why? I blame the arrogance of Apple, plain and simple.

Have fun using and learning these new apps.
