Set up smartware to backup files and all seemed fine for the first few hours. Now mycloud has disappeared from the backup target list and I am left with just Dropbox.
Have tried adding programs to firewall list etc but still not working, any ideas anyone?
What was the solution? I’m having the same issue and yes I have the latest version installed (2.2) and the MyCloud is visible through either Windows Explorer or the MyCloud Dashboard.
My router is a D-Link DIR-825. I don’t think it’s a router setting because I can still browse to the drive through Windows Explorer and access it through the Dashboard as well on the same computer. It shows up in Smartware after I reboot the MyCloud but after a while it disappears again and the backups I have set up never complete. I have turned off the Drive Sleep energy saver mode so we’ll see if that was the issue, although I would think that it wouldn’t go to sleep until a backup was completed and that if it was asleep the Dashboard wouldn’t be able to access it, or that if the Dashboard woke it up then it would show up in Smartware but it won’t until I restart the drive.
I had the same problem and after days, hours of trouble shooting and contacting WD technical support with no good answer from them, this is what I ended up doing to take care of the problem;
I disable unpnp and enable Multicast in my router.
I am sure this is going to depend on the type of router you have but it worked for me. Now am able to access my cloud remotely as well as using SmartWare backup target to backup my files.
That’s not an option for me because I have other devices on my network that need UPnP enabled. Guess I’ll have to just resort to third party software, which I really don’t want to do. It’s just strange that other software and Windows Explorer has no problem seeing the MyCloud all the time. It’s just Smartware that can’t find it half the time.
