WD SmartWare mirroring behavior?

Hi, I have a simple (?) question about how SmartWare manages backups. From what I understand, if I create a complete backup of my PC, SmartWare will then automatically keep it updated so that every time I change something in my PC (change, delete, add a file etc) the same will be done on the MyCloud. But what happens if I access my MyCloud from another device, say a tablet, and make changes to the files from there? Will these changes automatically be synced to the PC as well?

I think you may be confused at to what the Smartware software does. It is a backup program not a “sync” program. It backs up data from the computer to the My Cloud. And it allows one to restore that data at a later time if for example one deletes a file on their computer. Smartware is NOT a true “sync” program.

Further, WD has limited/blocked access to both the Smartware and TimeMachine folders on the MyCloud.com web portal and the WD My Cloud mobile apps.

You may want to read the Smartware User Manual (http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/wdsmartware/um.asp) to gain a full understanding of the program and how to use it.

If one needs to sync their computer files WD offers the WD Sync program (http://support.wdc.com/downloads.aspx) that allows for syncing computer files both locally and remotely. Or if one needs local syncing they can use third party programs like Free File Sync (http://www.freefilesync.org/).
