Wd tv live problems

Hi All,

I have a WD TV LIVE (latest firmware) which I am partnering with a WD My book studio 3TB and I am having a few issues.

First my WD TV LIVE won’t turn on from standby, I’m always having to pull out the power… After which it will restarts, where it does this weird thing, the initial startup screen goes on then off then on again? Takes a few minutes (1-3 mins)

Also when I attached my WD My Book Studio it freezes the WD TV LIVE, The light is blinking but I can’t press any buttons and the time on the TV LIVE doesn’t change… so I have to pull out the power again… It will restart again and then work as normal.

I have tried a restart on the bottom of the TV LIVE which didn’t seem to help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check if you have the latest firmware installed, if you do, you can also try pressing the reset button for 1 seconds.

Thanks for the reply Alucardx23

As stated in original post I have the latest firmware and have tried the reset.

… which product do you have? (The firmware version is the best description)

Hi TonyPh12345,

My fireware is 1.12.14. In the about section it says “WD TV Live Streaming Media Player”.

I just bought my WDTV SMP and updated to the latest firmware yesterday and the player did not have problem playing from my HDD but it kept freezing up while i was watching youtube videos and when i checked out hulu and vudu. The player did nothing even if i tried to hit the power button on the remote or home or stop or back or anything. So i had to pull the plug. Do you have these problems?

And btw the player is just super slow in the hulu and vudu menu.

I have the same dramas! Latest firmware and the remote just becomes non responsive. I’m still waiting for a fix for this, along with the time it takes to boot, compile files and recognize it has a USB HDD plugged in.

Your post is in the wrong forum, then.  This forum is for the old 2009 model.

The forum for the 2011 WDTV Live Streaming Media Player is here:

… but to answer part of your question, when powering up, it is normal for the “Splash” screen to be displayed twice.

When it boots, it starts in 720p mode.  Then after it’s booted part way, it initializes the HDMI interfaces and will re-set to the correct resolution.

If you look carefully, you’ll see that the images are actually different.

Thanks for the info Tony.

@ CSOCSO:I only really use youtube which works fine.
