Rather than build a media center I thought that the WD TV Live Plus would work for me at a lower cost.
Problem, when I try installing the program I an stuck.
-
WD Discovery does recognize my WD Unit that has a netgear internet adaptor attached.
-
When I click on the Map Network Drive under Things To Do I get an error: No network share available.
I phoned WD Support/they took my name and phone number and promised to call back-was not done.
There must be some step I am missing?
I just want to go to my primary desktop and actually use my windows 7 media center.
Any help/suggestions will be be greatly appreiated.

If all you want to do is map the drive to a letter, you don’t need the Discover Tool. (I’ve never been too impressed with that software.)
By the way, in order for this to work, you must actually have a Hard Drive or USB Storage attached to the WDTV and also ENABLE SHARING in the setup menus.
Then, all you need to do is click
START / COMPUTER
In the 2nd Menu Bar, click MAP NETWORK DRIVE
Select a Drive Letter from the drop down.
Click BROWSE
Find your WDTV Live+ in the drop-down and Expand it.
Click the share you want, and click OK.
In the previous window, check “Reconnect at Logon” if you wish the drive to be mounted every time.
Click FINISH.
You’re done.
Thanks Tony,
I think I will just return the unit to Frys and build a little HTPC and attach it with a hdmi cable to my flat screen.
I appreciate your time and help.
