Hello guys… can someone tell me if “out of region” when registering my drive will have any negative affect on my drive warranty ? I bought it under the condition it had the 5 year warranty and it said under warranty until 10/5/2018 but it also says out of region on the support portal add a device page. I bought the drive (WD1002FAEX-00Z3A0) on Newegg. ca and had it shipped to my home in Canada as a Canadian resident on 12/09/2013 according to newegg’s online records. Not only that it was shipped from the Ontario Canada warehouse (not from USA)
I have another one i already registered i got from an RMA here a while back and that one never did say that and it was mailed to me from USA. (by WD)
This is bugging me so i won’t be wandering off if i get no reply (staff / mods) lol
Can i be confident i made the right purchase ? (with the warranty as advertised on Newegg.ca)

If you registered the drive within the US and the drive was in Canada when New egg shipped that to you, the system will mark the drive as out of region since it was suppoused to be sold within Canadian area.
Now, the only thing that you need to do, is to contact WD Support over the phone or through the email support with a request to change the region.

is not cool and should be looked into by stafff i think… imagine how many drives Newegg CANADA sells…

i am a Canadian who went to a Canadian AUTHORIZED RESELLER who has a Canadian TLD (.ca) based site,
who shipped me a drive from ONTARIO Canada to BC Canada

Comes with a 5 yr warranty ? “IF” you register and then “IF” you complain and get told to contact tech support
and then *maybe then i can get what i paid for ? Am i crazy or does this seem a tad retarded ?
A ploy by WD to get out of honoring warranties ? A screw you if your not 'Merican kinda deal ?
