WD10EACS 1TB control board help

Ok so I have an external WD enclosure that came with the wd10eacs 1tb drive inside of it. I recently moved offices and in the processes inadvertantly connected a 19 volt power supply to the unit and apparently the drive does not care for 19 volts. There is a noticable fried oder but no visible damage t the control board. I know it is the drive as I put another drive in the enclosuer and it works fine. I am unable to get this one to be recognised in an external sata caddy that works with all other drives.

I dont see any damage on the controller board but something was toasty from the smell of it. The drive does not spin up either. Any idea what this might be or what I can do to recover the data? It is not worth paying $500 or $1000 to retrieve the files but it sure wold be nice to have a couple of the recording on the disk…

Hi, send a private message to fzabkar, he can give you good advice on this.

you need to source identical part number PCB somewhere (ebay or one of the sitesthat sell them).

Basicly the process is fairly simple if you have similar drive with PCB that has same PN.

you need to swap the external ROM chip from your board onto a functional one, and enjoy your files.

ROM chip is located at the U12 position like on this picture:
