WD15EADS Suddenly dropped formatting and became 0,5TB

Hello!

I have a trouble!

Today I was very surprised when I plugged my archive HDD to PC.

Windows disk manager shows that it is 500Gb! And status: normal. Now it has one, 500Gb, unformatted partition.

The HDD had two partitions. First was about 50 Gb, the second had all the rest disk space(containing archive data).

The other PC give the same HDD information.

Victoria v4.3 HDD test software showed no read errors.

What can I do to restore data?

P.S. model number of my HDD is WD15EADS-00P8B0

If you have a Gigabyte motherboard with an Xpress Recovery BIOS, then you are seeing the result of a BIOS bug.

Sharing my experience on problem solving.

1

Downloaded HDAT *.iso file, burned it to CD-R.

2

Booted from it. Started HDAT2. (just typed ‘HDAT2’ in command line)

3

Followed instructions, described in FAQ question #1:

After applying HDAT2 software, the HDD recovered fully, I got my files back!
