i have to say how extremly disappointed i am with the WD30EFRX. These are supposed to run 24/7 and i have to tell they have been running in a very good environment for 5 months where 2 out of 3 drives in a volume crashed. it happened so fast i was unable to do any exchange for possible repair so here i am now, lost a ton of data and truly very very disappointed with functinoality of the drives.
Hello Beeblebrox,
We are sorry to find out you had such a bad experience.
Have you contacted support to troubleshoot and find out the reasons for the failure?
Hi John012,
thank you for your concerne.
no i have not been in contact with support for the explanation on why they failed, but i will try to do it.
I feel that is secondary since my main task was to try to repair and extract data or make backups.
2nd drive failure occured just 6hours after 1st disk crash. they were bought on same day and seems to belong to same batch.
what i know is that i will get replacement since it is under warranty but that will njot help me much and now i will be very careful in buying these specific drives if someone can not explain what is going on.
I understand your concern.
Try troubleshooting this further with support until they determine the cause of the failure.
Hi
I have also had problem with WD30EFRX.
Sold a Qnap TS-469L TurboNas with 2pcs WD30EFRX in RAID0.
After less then 2 weeks one disk failed, I replaced it and it work for another week then the other failed.
I replaced that one aswell, both of the new drives where bought from another distributor, I thought the other one had got a bad load of diskes.
But today the my customer called and the disk that I replaced first have failed once again!!
Can it be the QNAP or do WD have problem with 3TB RED?
The customer wonder what **bleep** he bought.
