WD5000AAKX - Can I enable SATA I mode?

Hallo,
I buy hard disc WD5000AAKX, i have motherboard with VIA 8237 Southbridge (only SATA I mode). There is a question: can i enable SATA I mode on WD5000AAKX or i must buy other drive (i don’t want buy wd green because i read on this forum there are issue with IntelliPark). Disc will be work on windows7/xp as a system disc. Thx for response.

Unfortunately, this drive is a SATA 6 Gb/s, this mean that you can slowndow the drive to SATA II, but no to SATA I.

really? Because here from official SATA-IO site we can read something else:

ATA 6Gb/s promises new levels of performance for networks. This specification is backward compatible with earlier SATA Implementations 1.5 and 3Gb/s. This specification maintains the low cost and low power for which SATA is acclaimed.

So this drive should be backward compatibile… so … ???
