Hi,

Does anybody know how to stop .wdmc directory a easy way without using SSH and commandlines.

Since Tuesday we see this directory after the last firmware update.

Please help.

No, it cannot be shut off without using SSH or command lines.

Where are you seeing this?   .wdmc folders are “vetoed” in Samba configuration, so they should not be visible to users using CIFS mounts.

They are only created when the cloud access functionality is enabled, so if you disable it then they will no longer be created or updated (but those already in existence won’t be deleted). It is a work-around that WD suggested to us during the beta-testing for the 1.05 OS version, as several of us complained about their re-appearance.

Note that it’s a work-around rather than a fix, as you will of course lose some functionality by doing the above. If you need the cloud access to your MCM, then there’s no escaping them unfortunately. It wasn’t something that we were happy about, but the OS has been released with it that way anyway.

@Tony - they are visible on Windows SMB connections if you have “show hidden files/folders” set in Windows Explorer. They appear slightly differently to indicate that they are hidden files, but they are visible and accessible that way (similar to the ls -a Linux command functionality).

Turning cloud access OFF is a good start.

But how can ALL wdmc folders be deleted?

Indeed they are, on the EX4 as well, but not on the My Cloud (non-mirror.)

On the EX4, They are vetoed ONLY in the Public share.   Weird.
