WDTV live resets at the begining of the movie

Hi,

I have a problem with my wdtv live ( firmware 1.02.21) - when i’m playing movies the device restarts after a while. It is connected via hdmi to fullhd tv. The first mpeg-4 avi film played for 30 mins before the unit crashed. The second equivalent spec film crashed after 20 mins. Then again it crashed after 30 minutes…Can anyone help me?

What program did you use to encode these problem files?

I’m not sure now… i encided them long time ago. But now I reencoded them with handbrake. Same result. But if I’m using composite and component cable there are no freezes

Wait a sec. You said first that your WDTV CRASHES. Now you say that the picture just freezes. Is that right?

Well - it gives “no signal” on the TV with random duration - 1 sec. to 1min.If it is for a few seconds the film resumers. If it is over a minute i decide it is a crash.  I’m sorry for my bad english and i am not sure how to define the problem but the final result is this -" no signal" on screen .

Sounds to me like your HDMI cable is not working well.

Could be that…I’m with hama high speed hdmi 1.3, gold plated (imagine that!!). So tonight i’ll try to do a test with another one and i will provide the results. Thanx for the idea.

UPDATE: New cable, same stats but now 3 hours fluent work! Thanx a lot for the advice. Sometimes big problems have simple solution!
