WDTV Live Streaming not working w/OSX Lion?

So far, the only way I’ve been able to stream video from our network into the WDTVLS is by having our hacked AppleTV1 on and running with XBMC - the WDTVLS picks up the XBMC Media server from the AppleTV and can play everything in the library as Video/MediaServer/XBMC.  But that’s all rather pointless.  Might as well just use the Apple TV!

Meanwhile, I have a Seagate Dockstar sitting on the LAN  (WFS workgroup-SEAGATEGROUP) running via SMB with 500 H.264 files seen/playable by all devices on the network.  In addition, in iTunes I have the entire library available there as well - but the WDTVLS can’t seem to see it either.

So does no one use this box tro stream without a PC?  We just got it for Christmas, but if it’s not OSX compatible then it’s going back I guess.  Any Mac OSX Lion users have this box actually streaming like it says it does?

Got it working after several days of trying different things.

Ultimately the PS3 Media Server for OSX did the trick.  It is free and was very easy to set up too… just add folders as shares and done!

Thanks Shotgal for your perseverance, PS3 Media Server did the trick!!!

And out of the blue - now it doesn’t work any more.

I also tried the new firmware update - no help.

Once again the WDTV Live Streaming Media Player is useless.  Time to sell it at at 20% loss and buy another brand that know what they’re doing.  Playing media files off of a SMB network share or media server isn’t rocket science.
