I was thinking of buying this thing tomorrow but i just find out that i can’t plugged to my PC to transfer movies. Deal-breaker to me because that’s the only way i can do it
Well, YEAH, it’s designed and intended to be connected to a functional network (with internet access) at all times.
Sounds like an ELEMENTS PLAY may be a better choice for you. It’s not nearly as functional as the Hub, but it’s the only media player WD makes with built in storage that has a SLAVE USB port…
I thought that might be a problem when I first got my WDTV but just connected an ethernet cable from my router to the hub and was able to transfer whatever I wanted.
If that option is not available to you, using a USB stick is another way of transferring files - a bit time consuming if you have only a 4GB card and hundreds of gigabytes of movies but once you have everything on your WDTV you’ll be pleased you went with it.
Sometimes, rather than connect the WDTV via the ethernet cable I just stick a USB reader, that I got for a few pounds off Amazon, into my laptop, put an SD card in, drag and drop whatever I want and then stick the reader/card into the WDTV Live Hub. That gives me the option to watch direct from the USB reader or to copy the files onto the hub.
Most people will have a few SD cards knocking around in cameras or whatever.
