Hi, I have bought a My Cloud Ext 4TB Ultra NAS…One 2TB drive is backing the other 2TB card up so I expected for the capacity to show 2 TB but it is showing 1.94 TB … 6GB short …I have searched and cannot find anything stored on the NAS. I am just intrigued to know why this is happening and would love to have an explaination. Thank you.
Note that there is a specific subforum for My Cloud EX and My Cloud EX2 Ultra support where users more familiar with those devices may be able to assist with device specific questions.
OS5 My Cloud EX Series
OS3 My Cloud EX2
It it is normal to see the total hard drive capacity be less than the marketing reported Hard Drive Label size. See the following WD Support article that explains this difference.
Available Capacity of the Drive is Smaller than the Drive Label
Further, on some My Cloud devices the hard drive is partitioned in such a way for the operating system (to both hold the OS and run the OS) that it reduces the reported total available size of use accessible storage space in the My Cloud Dashboard.
