While examining another issue I discovered this . . .
My Book Live Duo = Samba 3.6.5
My Cloud = Samba 4.0.0rc5
My Cloud DL4100 = Samba 4.0.9
Why can’t all WD NAS’s have the same release of the Samba daemon?

My Book - Too old for upgrade/update
My Cloud - Custom patches from Mindspeed (For CPU performance + enabled 64k page memory patch)
My Clod DL4100 - Another CPU, so no need custom patches. Latest Samba inside (No need for upgrade or possible upgade from Debian repository)
My Cloud - Custom patches from Mindspeed (For CPU performance + enabled 64k page memory patch)
So I should discontinue my search for upgrading smb?
WDMyCloud:~# uname -a
Linux WDMyCloud 3.2.26 #1 SMP Tue Jun 17 15:53:22 PDT 2014 wd-2.2-rel armv7l GNU/Linux
I’m looking because I often get 100% CPU on one core, for days on end, and it is the smbd process that is chewing things up ;- )
Thanks for any feed back
(Will change my search target for postings about 100% CPU, instead of upgrading smbd).
