With PCs, the OS is usually taking up around 100GB on the internal hard drive, but I bought an external 2TB WD Elements Harddrive, and when I plugged it in it only had 1.81TB max, why is that? What’s taking up the extra 200GB?
That is due to how the computer reads the drive. This is normal for all drives. I have provided an article below that better explains the discrepancy in the capacity.
