Hey guys and gals. I am having an issue with trying to hook up a My Book Elite to a small business server with Windows 2003. When I hook in the hard drive, the computer goes through the process of trying to find the driver, but as you can guess, it isn’t able to find one. I have been searching the internet trying to find a driver that would work with Windows 2003 but can’t find anything. If someone could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.
I have the same problem, does someone knows the answer?
Thanks
Do you see it under Device Manager > Disk? If not, is the drive spinning? Try Mac OS-X.
Do you see it under Disk Management? If not, you have have to partition and format the drive.

Yes. My Solution is to Never, EVER, Buy a Western Digital External Hard Drive Again. I have nothing but heartache from the “My Book Elite” harddrive when try to use them with Windows 7. Western Digital shoulb be ashamed of themselves. This problem is endemic with their hard drives. They should not be selling them!
Take heart. It wont work with Windows 7 either.
Don’t count your dead chickens yet. It won’t work with Windows 7 either. My advise? Cut your loses, throw you Western Digital External Hard Drive away, and buy another brand that works.
