Windows Explorer can't see My Passport USB3 2TB HDD

Hi

I have read through many of the previous solutions to similar issues to mine but none as yet have worked.  I’ve just plugged in my new Passport USB3 2TB HDD, updated the firmware, installed the SES driver for Win 7 64bit and alas Windows Explorer doesn’t see the drive.

The PC Bios shows the drive, it’s even listed in Disk Drives in Device Manager.  I installed WD Smartware; this sees that it’s connected but carries the desciption “No writiable WD Smartware partition found”

I unistalled the drivers, reinstalled, unplugged, re-booted…ah!

I know my way around PC’s but this has me scratching my head.  Any support would be appreciated.

Cheers

Just gone through the tips on Bill_S’s FAQ - these didn’t work either.

Try checking on disk management and see if a little formatting helps

Wizer

The drive doesn’t appear in Disk Management.

Try contacting WD directly in this case

There is a problem with the printed circutt board. I tried the following to recouver my data Put it in the freezer for a couple of hrs then plug it in. this worked for me a couple of times till I recouvered my data. This only lasts a few hrs so be prepared in advance to download your data to another location
