I realize there is a 25user limit on this OS, but I was wondering if anybody knows how that limit works. I have a very small site that has 10 users, but we have about 800 users total in our Active Directory. I was able to join the DX 4000 to the domain and have multiple users hit it without any problems. But i’m worried that something will happen in the future. There will never be more than 25 users hitting this device at the same time, and the way we have our groups setup I am not able to sync to just one AD Group easily. I would really like to hear somebody say that the user limit is 25 connected users.
The designed limit is based on whichever security group you add to the Sentinel after you join it to the domain. This can either be an established group or a new group you create specifically for access control to the DX4000. This will be the only subset of AD users that will have access, it is not based on concurrency.
Is wd hardware support windows storage server 2008 r2 standard ? is it against wd warranty ?
I plan to install with external dvd, usb to mouse keyboard and usb to vga, is it possible ?
A USB video card is not going to work because your install is done in Windows PE which will not have the drivers for the USB Video. If you have more than 25 PC’s to backup you can uses as many DX boxes as you need.
If you just need files storage for more than 25 users This simply is not the right product for you. I would look for a server with Server 2012 standard. 2012 has storage spaces which allow you too pool drives as your data grows and has data deduplication. The software is ~800 bucks plus you ned CAL’s for each PC, plus hardware
