World Book II False Drive Failure

My WD World Book II recently started to indicate a drive failure with the blue rings. I had the unit in Raid 1 so my data was intact. I ordered a replacement drive of the same model and installed it. Upon powering the unit up it took a little longer than normal but the software indicated that it was syncing. I let it run overnight and the sync process completed. At this point I powered down the unit. The next time I powered the unit back on it indicated a drive failure again but this time for the other drive. 

I find it highly unlikely that both drives failed back to back like this. Is there anything that I can try?

Try to do a reset on the unit to see if this helps. Here’s a link that might be helpful with the reset procedure:

It is highly unlikely that the 2 drives would fail like this.
