At the moment I have three Windows 7 PCs. On all three the system image to the “MyCloud” back up works properly. But the normal (data) back up runs only on one PC. On the other two it stops in the middle of the back up with this Windows error code: “0x81000039”
There is one article with the same error code in the community:
I also searched and there was suggestions to change the Local Policies to: “Change the level to “Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated””. That didn’t seem to work as others posted…
Does anyone have the same issue or do you have any ideas how I could solve this problem?
I will try backing up on the MyCloud and see if it completes. I have tried on a MyBook and Mybook Live and think both didn’t complete. I think I have tried with the MyCloud before, but get so frustrated with any backups I tend to forget how they turned out. I even bought a few backup softwares and had problems. I will run a backup now on mycloud and get back with results
Have you checked to ensure the PC isn’t going to sleep during the backup? I find I have to change the Windows Power settings and change the sleep setting from my normal 15 minutes to 2 hours otherwise the backup (using Acronis True Image) sometimes fails.
I have Easeus todo Backup and also bought Memo and also a 3rd I couldn’t locate. No computer don’t sleep, I always check to never sleep on always. The backup I started this morning is still going and is the windows 7 backup restore and is 50% done so far after almost 12 hours running
Seems that error is a common one others have experienced. There is one suggestion at the following links for a possible fix that may (or may not) work.
Please try the following steps on the Windows 7 computer to change the NTLM authentication level:
Click Start. Enter “gpedit.msc” in the Start Search box.
Locate to Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options\
In the right pane, double-click on “Network security: LAN Manager authentication level”.
Change the level to “Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated”.
If that doesn’t work see the following link where the suggestion is to turn off the antivirus/security/firewall software on the Windows 7 PC and see if that clears the error.
Update: On one PC I just deleted two big files (each >600 MB) and then the backup worked on this PC…is there any file size limitation on Windows backups?
The backup using backup/restore seemed to finish on the MyCloud but had a file that didn’t upload, said couldn’t find.
Backup encountered a problem while backing up file C:\WINDOWS\System32\config\systemprofile\SyncUP. Error:(The system cannot find the file specified. (0x80070002))
Other then that syncup file nothing else seemed to be a issue
Here is a suggestion. As a test, use a third party backup program and see if it generates similar errors or has trouble with the files the Windows Backup program is having. Here are several free backup (or mirroring) programs.
