“Debian” app - Is Debian Jessie Chroot.
For go inside this chroot - run in SSH:
chroot /mnt/HD/HD_a2/Nas_Prog/Debian/chroot/ /bin/bash
All services from this chroot run automatically, when system start.
Start/Stop all services in chroot can be done from WebGui (enable/disable button)

do these installations/changes stay permanently on my cloud v2? do i have to reinstall after restarting/updating the firmware?

when i ssh into the my cloud is step 4 of your tutorial:

rm /usr/local/model/web/pages/function/define.js
ln -sf /mnt/HD/HD_a2/Public/define.js /usr/local/model/web/pages/function/define.js

“typed as one block” and then “enter”?
or are these several steps to go?

i’m trying to make sure not to brick the box…

rm and ln are two distinct Unix commands. Enter them as separate commands, pressing CR after each command.

They remove (rm) an existing define.js file, and replace it with a symbolic link (ln -s) to a different version of the file.

I don’t have a Gen2 MyCloud, but my understanding is that the Gen2 essentially re-installs its OS on reboot, so I suspect changes will be overwritten.

What I want to do now is use phpMyAdmin on My Cloud (firmware 2.21.119). All installed, but I have no idea what the password is to start up http://wdmycloud.local/phpMyAdmin/ for the first time? Do I need to run the setup first and go though all the config errors? (http://wdmycloud.local/phpMyAdmin/setup/). Or maybe this just comes down to accessing mysql, as if I type mysql -u root -p, here also I have no idea what the password is? Tried root, sssh, admin …

Sorry my mistake, I forgot line 6 (Install WDMyCloud_WDCrack_1.0.bin). Everything is working now. Eureka!!

Transmission - lost some libs. I known it, fix it later (maybe…)
Plex - Not tested, just repacked from another WD app.
