1TB Black (WD1002FAEX) Insanely Loud - Issue?

Ive tried everything to solve this some 30-40 hours on the topic. Surely cannot be right. First 1/4 of the drive during random or small read/write sounds so loud and chunky it eclipse anything else in the room, let alone in the case.

Both of them, I bought a pair. Model 00Y9A0.

To end with after another all niter trying to sort this out hunting on net and trying things its 8am and I end with this…

Starting to wish I never came back to western digital (!) After many 80GB WD Black die going back quite a few years now, this was my first outing back with them. Not worth all my [Deleted] time.

How loud? Too loud to be useabl, thats how loud. And no I dont have a quiet system, its actually pretty [Deleted] loud atm too loud to hear a peep from my samsung F3. I shudda binned them at the start soon as heard the racket. 40hrs wasted and still not solved, cudda earnt a weeks wages bought bloody 10 samsungs and pocketd a few hundred bucks still.

BTW no nothing reports error, otherwise I could RMA them.

By all means suggest a solution/fix, chances are Ive tried it already.

Dont you fnd it odd some ppl say their drive is quiet, others that its loud. Why cant they make/test/validate product so we all actually buy the same [Deleted] thing when its the same model? Ridiculous.

All hard drive makers need get the [Deleted] together imo.

Literally btw - too loud to be useable, thats the problem else Id tolerate some annoying bg grinding.

This may as well be a 3yr screaming in my face.

Darkrich, I have few of this Caviar Black drives, they are a bit noisy but not to the point of what you are describing. Contact WD tech support and explain your situation, they might be able to help you with this.
