2.00.35 firmware breaks PS3 access

Now that I have “upgraded” my MyBook Live 2TB firmware to 2.00.25 my PS3 can no longer access any media files. “No Files Found” …Aarrgh!!!

This doesn’t appear to be related to the Twonky 5.1.9.problems. I have rebuilt the database after deleting the db files on Twonky ( C’mon WD… when are you going to do something about this Twonky rubbish?)

Does anyone have any ideas as to what the issue might be.

I purchased the MyBook Live as a media drive and upgraded the firmware in the belief that I was going to improve performance. Unfortunately it seems this upgrade has made drive as useful as a brick for me. External access means nothing to me … I bought this as a DLNA media drive 100% ( silly me it seems)

It was a toss up between the MyBook Live and the Seagate Free Agent Go Flex … I really wish now that I had chosen the Seagate. I’ve never had so many problems with a piece of kit in my entire experience… and working in I.T. I have had a lot of exposure to ■■■■ gear believe me but nothing in my experience as a home consumer has come even close to the problems I have had with this drive.

I seem to have resolved this but it doesn’t really make any sense.

All my media is in the Public Share. I created a new empty share with the intention of moving everything but now all my media is showing up again in my PS3. I haven’t moved anything into this new share…all I have done is create it. When I delete this new share the media disappears from the PS3 again.

Very Strange.

At least the drive is no longer an expensive brick.

Any ideas as to what’s going on?

Cheers

We did not change anything in the Media server configuration. Glad you got it resolved.

Sigh. I might have found a solution the make the Shares reappear (Very strange - it’s like adding a new share actually turns file sharing on) but I still need to rebuild the Twonky database after adding new content.
