First of all, some facts about my setup and myself:
- I have been using a share on MYCLOUD as a network drive that I can access with both of my computers.
- I no longer use WDSync because I had so many problems with it. In fact, I uninstalled the client on both of my computers.
- I’m pretty PC savvy, but not at all network savvy and some of the setup options for the WD MYCLOUD might as well be Greek. I have not used the drive as a cloud drive at all because I couldn’t figure out how to set it up.
OK, so here we are. I just deleted a whole folder on the MYCLOUD share by accident. Windows gave no option to undo. My WD MYCLOUD share has no recycle bin. I am not running WD Sync, so I can’t access deleted files through that.
I read about enabling the recycle bin, but I see no option anywhere for enabling it and remember no option to enable it from when I originally set it up. Something I read said that it is only available for Windows (Samba) SMB files accessed with File Explorer.
A) WTF is Samba?
B) Do I have Samba in Windows 10?
C) If not, how do I get it and use it to put a recycle bin on my WD MYCLOUD share?
D) Would this help me access the folder I just deleted? Is there any way I can access it to restore it?
I can find nothing in the WD settings or online help topics that tells me how I can restore the folder. I would like to both restore my folder and set up a recycle bin on the MYCLOUD share.
HELP! Somebody please tell me what I can do, here. Thanks!
