Audio help needed, is the WD TV Live Plus capable of outputting digtal and HDMI at the same time?

I recently bought several other media players and this WD TV Live Plus, figuring I would keep the “winner” and sell off whatever doesn’t work well enough for my needs. So far the WD is ahead, but I just found a deal breaking issue - I cannot get digital/optical and HDMI audio to both out put at the same time.

Why is this a huge issue? This device will see double duty - late night TV sound will be played through the TV speakers, where as movie time, calls for me to power up the surround sound. With all other units (heck even my bluray player) I can choose how to output each audio line, so I could output lossless 5.1 to the reciever, AND 2 channel stereo to the TV.

I need equipment that is easy to use, and outputting both audio streams means all any family members need to due is mute the TV and turn on the reciever (which is a single button press on our remote).

Here is what I get, with everything on and ready to use;

Audio Output set to Stereo: My TV has full sound, as does the reciever, but the reciever is only getting stereo, so all native surround is lost.
Audio Output set to Digital: My TV gets no sound, but all native surround schemes make it to my reciever.
Audio Output set to Digital without HDMI: My TV gets no sound, but all native surround schemes make it to my reciever.

Every other media player I have used has independent stream adjustments. Has this ever been an option for this unit? I am using the most current firmware (1.05.04), but would consider downgrading the firmware if it got me to where I needed to be with this unit.

Thanks for your help!

No, as far as I know, you cannot send STEREO out HDMI while simultaneously sending DIGITAL out the optical.
