How are you connected to the TV, HDMI - Composite - Component?

Hi, I’m new to this forum.  I came here because I’m having the same problem with my WD TV Live.  While seeing a movie or youtube video the screen goes black and come back approximately two seconds later showing the WD TV resolution information box in the upper left corner.  This happen sometimes, not always, but when happen is two or three times per session and is really annoying.  Are there a solution for this??  Please, I’ll be waiting for a response, and thanks for the help!!!

Howdy, welcome aboard.

Resolution box?   The WDTV doesn’t do that; is it your TV that’s doing it?   If so, it’s because the signal between the WDTV and the TV may have been interrupted.

How is your WD hooked up to your TV?

Thanks for your fast reply.  Really, I think you’re right: the ‘resolution box’ is a screen that appears from the TV, not the WDTV.  It shows that the connection with the TV was lost, and its restoring it.  It is possible that the HDMI cable (that’s the way its hooked, by HDMI) have any kind of connection problem??  Or could be the WDTV HDMI output connector?  I’ll try first the HDMI cable to be sure if its the cable.  I’ll post any results later.

Thanks again for the help!!

I have noticed that the WD box frequently blanks the video output for about a second while it is setting up to play a video and again when the video has finished. (I can’t tell whether there is no video or if it switches momentarily to a different output resoution). This is especially noticeable when netflix is starting up, but it happens at other times as well.

Perhaps your TV is seeing this ‘winking out’ and popping up that message when the video signal is momentarily lost. Yes, I think that the screen is from your TV, but it is the WD box that is causing this to happen.

1.03.40 beta the problem stay in my LG now freeze in boot up screen and go to again no signal message.

i back to 1.02.21.

…yes, NetFlix certainly will do that.

NetFlix “takes over” HDMI control when it’s playing movies.  It does this because NetFlix is enforcing copy protection mechanisms on ALL the outputs (including Composite / Component / HDMI)

That’s why there are people that have NO ISSUES with the WDTV, but have HDMI issues with NetFlix ONLY on the Plus.

(of course, there are others that have HDMI issues regardless of Live or Live+…)

Don´t know if u still got this problem. But atleast for me, it´s caused by the HDMI colour mode. Solution is to change the setting back to 8-bit(under Audio/Video in settingsmenu). That´s solves the problem for me.

Thanks a lot, FireWire!!  I finally found the solution and was to do what you said.  By changing the HDMI color mode to 8-bit solved all the problems, now I can see a lot of movies without any black screens!!!

Keep helping us in this forum, we’ll appreciate your comments!
