Cannot Delete Share

I somehow created a share called UNTITLED on my NAS device from my ipad, via the create share button on accident.

I can see the share in the list but I do not have the option to delete the folder, the delete folder icon is greyed out. All other shares can be deleted. Not sure what I can do. Any advise would be helpful. Thank you in advance.

What are using to try and delete it?

I am using the NAS interface from the IP address. I do not see the -folder option. It is greyed out. Any other share I can see both -folder and +folder buttons. I think this folder got added accidentally from my iphone, thus untitled is the folder name. Thanks for responding, I still have no response from support through email.

Im having a similar problem.

i created a user “guest” and then there was this “guest” folder on the NAS.

I deleted the user (and if there were shares, i also killed them, not sure if there were any though)

still the folder is on the nas. a restart did not remove it.

i cant rightclick → delete it and therefore, i just dont know how to remove it…
ps: also tried to create a share called “guest”. my cloud responses: “share function failed (400099)”

any ideas? maybe the topic creator has already an answer from the WD support?

thanks!

@ocarus, do you have a usb drive plugged in?

@mydanny, in dashboard > shares, click on the share you want to remove, click on the “- folder” icon at the bottom of the shares list to remove the share.

As in an above reply did you click on the share and then the -folder. See image below.

Hey, thanks for your responses!

I somehow knew that you could misinterpret the “share-thing” ^^

There is no Share named “guest”. I got 4 folders on my nas, but only 3 in the shares.

Therefore i simply cannot remove the “Guest”-share, cause it is not in there.

(Anyways the speed and way you guys answer, especially with the picture, is just awesome!)

What to do in that case when the share is not on the web-interface, but the folder is in the NAS?

Sorry my reply did not help you but it was posted for the original poster, ocarus. If you can provide an image of your problem maybe we can help.

Have you tried a refresh? See image below.

Hey, i only have the menu points like in the wd-my-cloud picture above.
I dont have this refresh button anywhere.

Anyways, the cloud has been rebooted several times, i think this is similar to a refresh.

This “guest” folder simply does not appear anywhere on the menus/setting-pages… except on the NAS itself.

Any other ideas than a factory reset? I think thats the only 100% way for now…

Too much data already on it, so i wont do that anyways because of one empty folder.

Its not hurting anyone, but i just dont like “bug-behaviour” like that

Any ideas guys  ?

Have you tried ssh into the NAS and remove it via command line?  Folder should be in /shares/

@ Tnynyn,

It would be better to tell how you do that exactly. You must not assume that people know how to do this on Linux prompt level.

Hi guys, this issue is currently under investigation. I will share any information once I have anything new.
