Here’s the story so far.
MyBookWorld wasn’t showing up on my network. Tried the soft reset, no luck.
I have the drive now connected directly by ethernet to my PowerMac G5. I shows up. HOWEVER, even after a soft reset, it shows up under my “shares” but will only let me connect as guest. Admin/admin doesn’t work. So I can access it as “Guest,” but there are some folders that are locked up as “No Access.” I have a new NAS I am using to replace the MBW, and I want to transfer my data. However, I cannot transfer any of the folders marked “No Access.”
When I right click on the folder and select “more info” I cannot do anything to change or affect the permissions. After some research online, I even used terminal access to try and grab ownership of the drive. No dice. When I list my volumes in terminal, the MBW is listed as “Public.”
But there is more. I cannot connect to the web interface for the drive either. Using Bonjour, I can SEE MBW listed, but on double-clicking it I get the following error: “Safari can’t open the page “ http://mybookworld.local./index.php” because Safari can’t connect to the server “mybookworld.local.””
Using Go > Connect to Server, I cannot connect using Samba either.
Does anyone have any idea if there is a way to access or even copy the folders I am trying to use?
