Can't connect remotely to Mycloud

I just installed the new 3TB Mycloud. On the local network I can see it (but I’ve had to power cycle once as it disappeared off the network), and on our phones the WDCloud app can connect intermittently (sometimes I have to close app and/or log out and back in to see it). The WDPhotos app I can’t connect with at all (says Device Access Disabled), even after verifying user and entering the generated code manually. Logging into wdmycloud.com from any pc I see only a message saying that the device is offline (even as it is being connected to on the local network). Any ideas?

iPhones for app use and Windows 7 pc for connecting.

In the Cloud’s setup screens, what’s the Connection Status?

I am having the same issue.  I can connect when I’m in my own wireless network.  The connection status is connected.  I also can’t connect via the internet using the proper sign in credentials.  Basically, it works in my network, but no access at all remotely.

I am having the same problem. The software on the website does not function in accordance with the manual.

Accessing locally it shows as “ok” for drive status and “mounted” for content status

I did find another spot under the local dashboard screen, under settings, where it says Connection Status.

It shows "Connecting (Trying to establish a remote access connection…)

No idea how to get it to update or change. I did update to the latest firmware also.

Log into the dashboard (not the Windows-based dashboard; the actual Cloud’s web dashboard.)

Check the status there.

Hi Guys,

Please read and provide the connection status from “Cloud Access” tab on device GUI and let us know.

Also would be helpful to know what model/type of router are you using in your network?

If the Cloud Access status is not showing “Connected”, then please try to Disable and Re-enable “Cloud Access” from device GUI → Settings Tab → General.

Let me know the results.

Thanks,

Trying to establish a remote access connection…

Tried disabling and re-enabling as well…

At this point, if you can, try a Quick System Restore (Warning: it will delete all your files on the device)

I am having the same problem with the same router. Did you get your problerm solved?

No, still no luck. Today I’m trying one last batch of tests. I can’t help but think it is something relatively simple with port forwarding, or some such fix. But I am not much of a network person (one of the reasons I bought this, as it was supposed to simplify connection lol).

I’ll post if I get anywhere.

Orioncon, my remote is working after a long time with level 2 tech support. It turns out that the device can only receive communications to ports 80 and 443. My ISP blocks both of those ports hence no remote access. We went with a static configuration with the device and used port forwarding to get around the blocks. Your ISP will be able to tell you if it is blocking those ports. If that is the case I can send you a screen capture of my port forwarding page.

Good Luck

I did try a static IP and port forwarding.  My last attempt over the weekend ended when I couldn’t access the device at all, as it would cot reconnect to my network, even after resetting it.

I have given up, and am returning it.

I am glad capted that you got yours working.  How is the speed of connection when accessing remotely, if I may ask?

Using the WD My Cloud Desktop app, I can download a 300megabyte file in 1-2 minutes.

I’m having the same problem. I can connect while in the same wifi network but no way to connect when remote. The app keeps trying to find the files w/o success…

Can you please teach me how to use others ports ? My problem may be the 80 and 443 ports

I have my port forwarding set up as below.

I have my remote access set as below.

I hope this helps.

This worked for me. Now how do I make it stable?

This is my 1st post here. Thanks.
