Caviar blue 1TB 7200RPM loud?

Hi,

I built a brand new computer with a caviar blue 7200RPM 1TB hard disk as my storage drive. There is currently only a few files on it but it constantly turns on and off. The sound it makes is a low (but noticable) humming noise and it’s driving me nuts!

I have set hard drive parking in 1 minute (even though this definitely is NOT working) but now I would like to know if there is any other software that can silence the hard drive. I do not care about performance so any suggestions are appreciated

At the time of this post WD does not provide hard drive acoustics-related software. Please bear in mind your computer’s case and hard drive position can affect perceivable noise levels.
