It has been a few months since purchasing my WD Black Caviar 1TB drive (secondary hard drive). At first the drive were completely silent even during large data usage. However, I have noticed it becoming increasingly louder and slower. I have ran the diagnostic tools off the website and both the windows version and dos version gives the drive an Error free status. Any ideas what might be causing my issue?
As a side note I have tried formatting the drive in hopes of fixing the issue but no luck yet. On another side note upon pulling up the drive in disk management I noticed under the transfer speed windows has it as “SATA Generation 1-1.5 G” Which is odd since the hard drive is a SATA 3 correct?
See the two screen shots attached. The primary channel drive is Black Caviar (500 GB) as well having the same symptoms with the loud sounds and slowing down however under disk management it says Generation 2 which I am pretty sure its a Gen 3 as well. The secondary is also hooked up with a SATA 3 cable and the primary is hooked up with whatever cable came in the mother board box. The mother board itself supports SATA II.
